چکیده

Objective: Femoral neck fractures mostly occurs due to high-energy trauma in young population and management differs compared elderly. Different geometric parameters the hip joint can play a role fracture morphology regarding age. Present study aims compare between elderly Materials methods: 45 patients with isolated femoral included study. Patients were divided into two age; group 1 (younger than 60 yr.) 2 (older yr.). Garden Pauwels classifications, Sharp angle (acetabular index-AI), acetabular depth (AD), Hip-axis length (HLA), Neck-shaft (NSA), Center-edge (CE), Singh indexes femur head extrusion groups. Results: The mean age of (22 patients) was 48 ± 10.4 while (23 77 6.3. Significant differences found 3 parameters; HLA (13.4 1.4 cm vs 12 1.1 cm) (p: 0,034), (37.9° 5° 40.3° 3°) 0.047) CE (38.1° 6.2° 34.8° 4.5°) 0.48) respectively. No statistically significant difference terms AD, NSA, index index. Conclusions: Our shows influence proximal on may help future studies reveal relevance type.

In-Hospital Outcomes after Hemiarthroplasty versus Total Hip Arthroplasty for Isolated Femoral Neck Fractures

Background:    Previous studies suggest total hip arthroplasty may have some benefits compared to hemi-arthroplasty for displaced intracapsular femoral neck fractures in patients more than 60 years of age. The primary research question of our study was whether in-hospital adverse events, post-operative length of stay (LOS) and mortality in patients 60 year of age or older differed between tot...

Treatment of Fractures of Neck of Femur

1. The proper use of a Smith-Petersen nail is the best method of treating intracapsular fractures of the neck of the femur. Its simplicity and accuracy represent a great advance over older methods. 2. The Smith-Petersen nail is only the provision of an efficient internal splint. Its great merit is that it allows the patient to get up within a few days. 3. The Smith-Petersen nail will neither en...

Challenging ipsilateral hip and segmental diaphyseal femur fractures with a severely osteoarthritic hip joint: lessons learnt.

To cite: Matar HE, ElHosh S, Attar FG. BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr-2015212593 DESCRIPTION Patients with hip fractures very rarely have hip osteoarthritis (OA), 2 with published data suggesting an inverse relationship between hip fractures and hip OA. In fact, hip OA is found to be protective against intracapsular fractures but increases the ris...

People in different age groups show different hip-joint morphology.

It has been suggested that the distribution of the subchondral bone density may be regarded as the expression of the long-term effective stress in a joint, and previous results indicate the regularity of the distribution of subchondral bone density as a function of the passing demands made upon a joint. Computed tomography-osteoabsorptiometry has been developed to visualize the area distributio...
